Why Medium-Wave Infrared for Paint Curing?

Medium-wave infrared heaters penetrate the surface of coatings rather than heating the surrounding air — which means faster, more uniform cure times and less risk of blistering or overheating the finish. This is particularly important for water-based clear coatings, which are increasingly required under environmental regulations across Canada and the U.S.

Unlike short-wave infrared (which can overheat sensitive surfaces) or convection heat (which relies on ambient air temperature), medium-wave infrared delivers controlled, directed energy directly to the coating — making it the standard choice in professional auto body and finishing operations.

TPI's HP Series uses gold anodized reflectors, which direct more usable energy to the target surface than standard polished aluminum — a practical advantage in high-volume or time-sensitive finishing environments.
